Who are Eat Up!?
Eat Up! is a Bristol-based non-profit collective which platforms women, LGBTQIA+ and other marginalised people in the DIY music scene. All of our events aim to overcome practical and cultural barriers for disabled people, people of colour and those with low-incomes.
Our shows are regularly held at Exchange, an accessible and community owned venue. We use a pricing structure that ensures no one is turned away for lack of funds. The Unnofficial Pride Afterparty and Eat Up Birthday Party are mainstays in our calendar.
We annually host a series of low-cost workshops as part of our 'Eat Up For Starters' program. Our past workshops have invited participants to explore guitar, bass, drums, vocals, songwriting, loop pedals, 'How to start a band', networking and more. Each workshop is run by an expert or enthusiast in our community.
A new addition since 2023 is the '100% Coulis Beginner's Jam Session', a jam session for people new to playing and collaborating in music. We provide instruments and support from a sound engineer and a facilitator for our 'loose jam' that's held every few months.
We have seen many acts grow since attending our workshops. We love to offer new performers their first show at our events and we encourage other creatives to get involved with photography, graphic design and any other inspiring contributions. Our Zine gives us a chance to keep everyone up to date with a colourful and fun collectable that helps keeps our DIY spirit alive.
Eat Up! has been running since 2017 and we are a small collective of volunteers who love DIY culture and supporting creative people and music fans.
